I've had my iPad since they launched in the States a couple of months ago and I've been simply stunned by the gushing unchecked admiration it has received in the press. A double page spread in last week's Sunday Times for example extolled the virtues of the iPad with absolutely no reservations whatsoever. It failed to mention that because of the ongoing war between Apple and Flash, you won't find Flash on the iPad, thus rendering a vast number of websites useless, or the BBC iPlayer unplayable. Surely in the interests of balanced journalism, this should at least have been mentioned, or was the journalist simply too excited with his new free iPad. And shouldn't they have pointed out that the gadget 'which is going to revolutionise publishing', is unreadable in daylight because of the highly reflective screen and is in fact quite heavy to hold up like a book. I could go on, as I have many more reservations about the iPad but two million have already been sold and criticisms are seeping out on to the web in blogs and comments. It's an amazing invention but one which is far from perfect.
