Prometheus tweets

Just a quick post as an addendum to yesterday's post about Hollywood using social measurement companies and the importance of 'word of click' to a film's success. Anyone watching Homeland (yes, I'm addicted) in the UK last night would have seen that the entire first commercial break was taken up by a trailer for the up-coming Ridley Scott blockbuster, Prometheus - what was different was not only the length of this dramatic commercial but it encouraged people to tweet around the hashtag - #areyouseeingthis. The next commercial break then showed a real-time feed of tweets coming in around the hashtag. 


I think this demonstrates just how important it is for Hollywood to get that online buzz going around a movie and in my experience where Hollywood first treads, brands often follow. Expect much, much more of this
