Summer is not quite over and I thought it would be worth recommending another amazing read, Big Data. A Revolution That Will Transform How We Live, Work and Think by Viktor Mayer-Schonberger and Kenneth Cukier.
We hear so much about Big Data but if you really want to understand what it's all about ( I thought I got it but I soon found out I didn't have a clue ) - the good side and the dark side and how it will have a profound impact on all our lives, then this is the book for you. It's quite simply gobsmacking! In fact if you can read Chapter 1 and not be amazed I'll give you a tenner!
Schonberger is Professor of Internet Governance and Regulation at Oxford University, previously being at Harvard's Kennedy School and Cukier is the Data Editor of The Economist; they really are both at the top of their game in this very readable, enjoyable and enlightening volume.
